Show Summary
South Park is an animated comedy series that premiered on Comedy Central on 13th August 1997. It is created and written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The series was inspired by a short film called The Spirit of Christmas which was created earlier by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The series has recently completed twelve successful seasons and the thirteenth season is supposed to premiere in the month of March this year. A total of 181 episodes of the series have been aired across the twelve seasons till date.

The story of South Park revolves around the lives of four blasphemous boys who study in the third grade and live in the town of South Park in Colorado where strange things keep happening. The boys include Eric Cartman who is a rude, intolerable, sadistic, bigoted and fat kid. There is Stan Marsh who is quite kid and tends to vomit whenever he talks to Wendy Testaberger on whom he has huge crush, or when something unpleasant happens. Then there is Kyle Brofloski a Jewish kid who is bullied by Eric Cartman due to his Jewish descent. To round up the group is Kenny, the kid who dies in every episode and always wears an orange parka-hood. The illusory show that was targeted at a matured audience was initially created with paper cut-outs and was later computerized. This is the reason behind the characters using a coarse language and even the visual appearance of the series being quite rough.
The series which tackles serious issues uses a brilliant combination of humor and satire to entertain the audiences. Even though the boys are guided by their parents, teachers, and town leaders who all mean well, the four some learn the lessons of life through their misadventures which gives rise to many funny situations. The series through its humor also sends across the message that mistakes can be made by grown ups as well and sometimes even the children can act wisely. In addition, the fun of the series results from the weird incidents occurring in the town of South Park. The wild incidents include aliens planting a chip in Cartman’s anus or Michael Jackson moving in to live in the neighborhood or the children accusing their parents of child molestation to name a few. The series made a name for itself due to its take on pop culture, scatological fun, and satirical way of commenting about the current events.

The series has been quite popular among people of all age groups and recently has bagged a contract for producing new episodes till its fifteenth season which means that the show will be aired till at least until the later part of 2011. The series has also been nominated for fifteen different awards including five Emmy Awards. It has also won seven other awards including three Emmy Awards.
